I
am trying to keep myself informed on news and changes that are related
to Transmonde notebooks or computers [notebooks] in general, and especially
those that may increase the life expectancy of my machine and improve its
preformance [I mean some specific aspects].
Though
I do check my sources periodically, your updates would be of everybody's
interest, so let us know YourNews
!

driverUpdate:sound
| ESS finally took a
look at its own Web-site and noticed that 'generic' drivers there are 'slightly'
out-dated. Looks like Win2000 release made ESS update the Drivers section
to include reference to Win2000 drivers, so that other drivers were updated
'along' the way. There's also WDM drivers for Maestro-2.
Check out Drivers
section.

| If you enjoy your sound-card functionaity you may try 'standard'
audio-utility that ESS
used to include with its AudioDirve drivers. It's called AudioRack,
and it's in fact a customizable graphic rack that includes MIDI, WAV (DAT),
CD, and Mixer with play/record functionality. This works with Maestro-2
as well -- I tried.

section.

| From Synaptics
you can also download a 'toy' called Theremin. This toy turns
your TochPad into a 'musical' instrument [it's up to to you how name that
music], it sounds like a saw-concerto, but some sounds are
pretty groovy -- you may even try to record a soundtrack for a SiFi clip
:).

badnews
| SystemSoft no longer does BIOS stuff -- it passed the BIOS
line to other company, but latter shows no real [reacheable] activity in
that direction.
Conclusion: enjoy
your current functionality, take the best from your precious notebook and
put it into work.
